How Cool Is Social Media?

If you’ve been following me on Twitter you know that I’ve been really diving into social media lately.  This time last year I was reading blogs, but had no idea why I should write one.  Luckily I have a business advisor who introduced me to the value of Twitter and blogging as business tools.  Now I’m blogging, I’m twittering, I’m on Facebook  (which is great fun, I highly recommend it), and I’m about to launch a podcast on a form of meditation through singing called kirtan.

Through reading links posted by others on Twitter, I’ve found new thought leaders in social media like Chris Brogan & Mack Collier.  And they’re answering questions for me about how to market in an Internet age.  It’s really fascinating stuff.  The medium is evolving, it’s where it’s happening, but most companies haven’t yet asked the question “What’s social media?”.

And here’s what’s so cool—it’s all about the conversation. It’s about building relationships, about humans being human and connecting with other.

So, how can you use social media if you’re a VO?  I’m just starting to find out, and I’m entering new territory with the podcast.  But I’ve been tweeting about the podcast for less than a week, and way more people have started following me on Twitter.  Looks like it might be an interesting ride.
